TARNOW BRANCH
General Information

As its name implies, the branch comes from Tarnow. There is an interesting story in connection with the descendants of Bernard Turteltaub. Before moving to America, Bernard and his wife Mindl Kornmehl went to Germany. Since the marriage had been performed only under the Jewish religion, it wasn't legally recognized by the Germans. Consequently, the children adopted Kornmehl as their last name, something they carried over to America. This is easily seen in the family tree.
